Liberator - Fascinator Throe (Shag)

Rating: 4.5/5
Impressions: Ooh, soft like a bunny! Comes in handy, too. :)
Price: $85 from manufacturer, $85 from Wild in Secret

This particular blanket/throw is a bit on the pricy side, to be sure, but it's worth every penny if you ask me.

The Fascinator Throe (no, I don't know why its spelled like that) is deceptively simple looking, but there lurks some ingenuity inside the plush faux-fur (which feels like a soft, cuddly bunny, by the way, without killing any of the aforementioned furry animals) and polyester satin facade. Inside is a nylon barrier (think those sheets you put on the bed when you have a kid - or, I suppose, an adult - who wets the bed, only made of a thin layer of nylon instead of of rubber) that prevents any liquids - be they bodily fluids of any type or lube, massage oil, mayonnaise...whatever you happen to get into while getting it on.

The throw itself is about 5' long or so, which is plenty big for throwing down before getting down, although personally I'd prefer something larger that I could use to cover the majority of the bed if I wanted to because, honestly, it's a great throw and comfy to cuddle up with. Ooh, soft like a bunny...

While the throw tends to make odd crinkling noises a bit like a pair of potty-training pants when you bunch it up (kind of hard to avoid that, since it does have the nylon layer to prevent leaks), it's happily silent when you're using it for its intended purpose.

Another plus, aside from this throw's amazing ability to prevent wet spots on the sheets (and without feeling disgusting and nappy, I might add - is the added bonus of the two different materials gracing the two sides of this blanket. One side is plush faux-fur (lovely to lay on when you're nekkid) while the other is a polyester satin (which isn't exactly like silk, but far more practical) which lets you experiment both with the feeling of the different sides against your skin but also with motion. The fur side tends to keep you still while the satin side allows you to slide a bit without much trouble, whichever one strikes your fancy.

My only complaints about this particular piece of essential bedroom supply are the size of the throw (as I said, plenty large, but I'd prefer something queen-sized to fit the bed for when I just want to lounge on it) and the slightly less than silky feel of the satin side. I'd prefer something just a tad bit smoother.

But those are minor quibbles, easily made up for by the effectiveness of the throw, the feel of the faux-bunny fur side and the fact that this little beauty is machine washable, making cleanup a breeze.
